  • Motivating parents to send children regularly to school.
Goal of the project To mainstream the drop outs in Agency Area which is more prone to dropouts because of its remoteness.

Activities
  • 147 programmes have been executed by APHRDS to orient the School Education Committees (SECs)
  • 500 Parent Teacher Meetings were organized, inviting parents and teachers surrounding the school complexes to aware about the importance of education
  • In the high dropout density Mandals like G. Madugula and Paderu, APHRDS has opened up Residential Bridge Camps (RBCs) and Motivation Centers (MCs) to mainstream the drop outs in the respective Mandals
  • RBCs run with an intake of 100 girl drop out students each. The RBCs are supported by the community level Motivation Centers (MCs). Motivation Centers (MCs) being functional at the Panchayat headquarters
  • A special literacy drive had also been taken up APHRDS through running up of 100 Functional Literacy Centers (FLCs) for the SHG women in the agency. With a minimal support of rupees 500 per month for the instructors for six months and accessing the services of the Mandal Literacy Officers (MLOs) and materials from the education department
Beneficiaries 3000 Women have been made literate
Outcome
  • There are more than 3000 women made literate.
  • The peculiarity has been noticed that old women (more than 50 years of age) participated in the program.
  • It is observed that most of the participants used the slates and pencils of their children. Since all RBCs are functional in the non-working hours i.e. during evening, all women are encouraged to attend the program with regularity and determination.
  • The instructors are generally from the same village and preferably women, which in most of the cases encouraged even the non-SHG members to attend the literacy centers apart from the SHG members.
  • The concerned MLOs made regular visits to each of the FLC and have given their feedbacks in the visitors book maintained at the village level and expressed complete satisfactions.
